10 Unique Mother’s Day Cards

Most of you have started thinking of gift ideas to get your mom in a few weeks for Mother’s Day. Many of you might have even found something you can make.

I think it’s great to shower our moms with gifts, but sometimes I think a sincere nice card is just as nice of a gesture. Wouldn’t you agree?

If you are planning to send a card for Mother’s Day, whether with or without a gift, why not send her a unique card {instead of a genero store bought card…although nothing wrong with that, typically that’s what I do}. So in honor of this special day, I’ve rounded up 10 unique Mother’s Day cards to give your mom this year.

14 Valentine’s Day Project & Gift Ideas

Now that it’s February, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, I’m typically one of those that doesn’t get into all the Hallmark hoopla. To me, you should show those around you that you love, how much you love them on a daily basis. Not just once a year.

But, with that said, I do think it’s fun to do something extra special on Valentine’s Day. It forces us to get creative and come up with unique gift or project ideas. To help spark some last minute Valentine’s Day creativity, I’ve rounded up 14 project and gift ideas {all budget friendly}  to help us get into the spirit of love.

14 Valentine's Day Project &B Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day isn’t typically a holiday I decorate for, but here are a few projects and decorating ideas I found that I love.

I love the look of driftwood, and love this diy driftwood heart. I would even keep this up year round.

Driftwood Heart

{Simplicity in the South}

I love the simplicity and sweetness of this ‘Love’ embroidered twine project.

Embroidered Twine Canvas

{Finding Home}

This little piece of artwork has a fun sparkly ribbon heart on top of gold initials. This is something else I would keep up year round.

I’ve seen a lot of string art projects lately. I love this heart with ‘Love’ string art. This would even be cute to make a smaller version of for an end table or coffee table.

I just thought this diy heart glitter pillow was fun. Great way to add flare to your bed or couch.

This next project I absolutely love. Stamping a couple’s name into two spoons and then stamping an important date onto another piece of silver and framing them. This would even make a great anniversary gift. I so want to do this one day!

{Thistlewood Farms}

And I thought this little diy origami heart was unique and cute.

{Oleander and Palm}

And don’t forget to check out my Vday project from last year, Yarn Wrapped Love Letters.

In addition to decorating, Valentine’s Day is also about getting or making something for the people in your life that mean the most to you. Here are a few budget friendly gift ideas for those special people in your life.

For the person who is hard to buy for or who has everything, these downloadable coupons would make a great vday gift. You could fill them out with an act of service or something that you couldn’t physically buy {like extra hugs and kisses or an outing of their choosing}.

{Elegance and Enchantment}

Instead of buying a card for that special someone, download these hand drawn cards and give to them instead.

Hand-Drawn Valentines

{Funkytime}

Since it is winter and typically cold for most of us, these little diy handwarmers would make the perfect gift {for both adults and kids}.

{Armommy}

Sometimes the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So instead of giving a gift, make these little cupid heart crispies to show him how much you love him.

These diy monogram mugs are another cute gift idea.

Gold Monogrammed Mugs

{le zoe musings}

This could be a gift or a decoration {that I personally would keep up year round}. Print all the important dates in your life as a couple and frame them. You could include your first date, wedding date, birth of your first child, etc. This is another project that I want to do one day for sure!

{Cape 27}

And last but not least, I thought this was such a cute idea. Give little gifts on the hour every hour. They could be as small as their favorite candy or favorite magazine and then the last one could be a bigger gift.

{Thirty Handmade Days}

Hopefully this helped you get into the Valentine’s Day spirit. Now I need to get with it and get/make something for my valentine pronto!

4th of July Party Ideas {Backyard BBQ}

Does everyone know what a week from today is?? It’s the 4th of July!

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. Partly because it falls in the summer and partly because I have a love/hate relationship with fireworks. I love fireworks, but they also scare me to death. I blame it on several traumatic childhood experiences. One of which involved a firework backfiring into our neighbor’s garage where we were all sitting and the other involved some sort of spinning firework that ended up running rampant in my grandparent’s backyard.

I may not love the small backyard fireworks, but I certainly love a good fireworks show {especially when they are free}. I also love the 4th of July because it’s a good excuse to have people over and grill out. :)  If you are planning to throw a backyard bbq at your place, I’ve thrown together a few fun 4th of July party decoration and food ideas to help make your party fabulous & festive.

Fourth of July Party Ideas {Backyard BBQ}

1. Make your own party decor like this burlap flag banner from Uncommon Designs. 2. Spice up your party table with some fun red or blue striped napkins from Pehr Designs. 3. Add a nautical theme element to your table with these rope plates. 4. What 4th of July party is complete without watermelon? Turn watermelon wedges into popsicles from One Charming Party. 5. I love anything to do with s’mores. Make your own s’more star cutout cookies from the master crafter herself, Martha Stewart. 6. For a festive beverage option for your guests, check out this recipe for Firecracker Punch. 7. And last but not least, what 4th of July party is also complete without sparklers?? {I have to say, these used to freak me out, but I’ve worked through it and can now handle these on my own}.

Hopefully some of these ideas are helpful! Do you have big plans for the 4th of July? Are you planning to throw a party?

I’ll be back on Friday with my recap from Haven!
