Hope everyone is having a good week so far. I’m back in my routine this week and have had the chance to knock out some of the things I’ve had on my list to do for a bit.
One of the things on my list was to pull together some decorating inspiration and ideas for a little girl’s bedroom. One of my co-workers has a little girl and they were asking me if I had any ideas for decorating a little girl’s room. The colors they mentioned they were planning to use were mint green and white. I said I would do a little research and put together a little inspiration board with ideas.
I tried to come up with a few diy ideas to keep it as inexpensive as possible but also add a little ‘glam’ to the space. Here’s what I came up with.
In addition to the mint green and white color scheme, I decided to throw in some gray and pink just to bring some additional color.
Here’s a breakdown of everything::
1. I loved the idea of adding a bit of glam with this cute chandelier from Home Depot.
2. I love a good gallery wall and thought a gallery wall of mirrors would make a big statement in the room. {You can find mirrors at your local thrift stores or Ikea has fairly cheap mirrors as well}.
3. My mom used to sing ‘you are my sunshine’ to me when I was a little girl so I loved this ‘you are my sunshine’ print. I also love it because it adds a bit of ‘rustic charm.’
4. For fabrics in the room, I think you can pull together a bunch of different solids for bedding etc., but I thought it would be fun to incorporate this rain drop print somewhere in the room to tie all the colors together.
5. For wall paint colors, I found this shade of mint green from Valspar called Hint of Mint that I thought would look good on the walls.
6. Every little girl needs her own big girl bed and I love how curvy and girly this daybed is from Pottery Barn.
7. Who doesn’t love tissue paper pom poms? They are an inexpensive way to decorate any space. I thought it would look cute to cluster together a bunch of different colors in one of the corners of the room. There are tons of tutorials out there on how to make your own. Here’s my tutorial from when I made some for a set design for work recently.
8. I thought this cute little box set from Ruche would be a great little accessory to add to the room whether on some shelving or on a dresser/night stand.
9. Books are also an easy and fairly inexpensive way to bring color to any space. To match your color scheme, paint the spines of some old books {ones you already have or maybe some from Goodwill}.
10. Basic shelves are perfect for not only fun accessories but also great for organization.
11. Spice up a plain white lamp shade with some fabric rosettes to add a pop of color. You can find these on Etsy or here’s a tutorial on how to make your own. Here’s how I spiced up a plain burlap shade in my own room.
12. I just love this owl lamp and thought it might add a bit of ‘whimsey’ to the room.
13. This mirrored side table from Target compliments the gallery wall of mirrors in the room.
14. And I just love this style of chair and loved the gray chevron pattern.
What do you think? Now I’m wishing I had a little girl’s room to decorate…
If you have young kids, what’s one way you inexpensively decorated their rooms?
