New Apartment Dining Room

A while back I gave you guys a little tour of my new apartment. I showed you pictures of my new bedroom and my new bathroom. You may have been wondering about the rest of my place. I wanted to get a few projects done and completed before I took and showed you guys pictures.

But, I have finally finished all my dining room projects so I thought I would give you guys a little tour of it today.

Let’s start with the before shall we? This is really the only before shot I have {filled with tons of boxes}. But you get the idea.

Dining Room BeforeHere’s the after.

Dining RoomYou may recognize a few things in my dining room from my old bedroom. I hung the frames and glazed mirror from my bedroom gallery wall on either side of my window in the dining room. I also bought some round mirrors from Target to add to the mix.

If you missed my tutorial on how I made the drop cloth curtains and the curtain tie backs, you can see the full post here.

Dining Room Left SieThe dining room has a fun little feature…a pull down ironing board. I don’t use it a ton, but sometimes when I need to run an iron over something I need to wear to work I’ll pull it down real quick in the mornings.

Dining Room Ironing BoardHere’s a close up shot of the right hand side of the window.

Dining Room Right SideYou may also recognize my chandelier over my table. I got it from Ikea when I was at Haven last year and had it installed in my bedroom.

Light BeforeI took down the old light fixture in the dining room {or should I say a certain someone else took it down for me}. And replaced it with my pretty shiny chandelier.

Dining Room ChandelierLike my pretty tablescape? Planning to show you detailed pictures of everything on the table later this week.

Dining Room TableThe kitchen table was an old table my parents gave me. I freshened it up with some chalk paint and will post the full tutorial soon also!

Dining Room Table Close UpLove that I now have a cute kitchen table to eat on and can invite people over for dinner now.

What do you think of my new little dining room? Who wants to be my first official dinner guest?

House Tour:: Tiny House

I haven’t done a house tour in a while. So today I thought I would show you guys some pictures of a house I recently came across.

I was looking for inspiration on Houzz recently and stumbled upon this 540 sq ft. house located in Sauvie Island, OR. You read that right, 540 square feet! Jessica Helgerson {an interior designer} and her husband and 2 kids live here. They completely renovated the place and did an amazing job maximizing their space.

Let’s take a look shall we?

I absolutely love the combination of the wood accent wall and crisp walls and ceiling in their kitchen.

The couple sleep in this upstairs loft. How cozy!

The bunk beds in their kids room are a perfect solution to maximizing space.

I currently am obsessed with free standing tubs so I love the tub in their bathroom.

Doesn’t this make you want to have a tiny house now too?

Pop on over to Houzz to see more pictures from their home and read more detail about each room.

Happy Wednesday!

New Apartment Bedroom

I’m slowly getting all settled into my new place and it’s starting to feel like home.

The place I’m renting is a garage apartment behind a couple’s house. The owners are super sweet and go to the church I’ve been going to here. They have been so sweet to check on me every now and then and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better over the next few months!

Today though I wanted to start giving you a tour of my new place. One of the the rooms I have pretty much finished unpacking/decorating is my bedroom. I don’t really have any true before pictures, but I do have these two pictures that I blogged about before.

It’s my bedroom with just the basic furniture pieces in it.

And now to show you the after.

As you walk into my room from the living room, this is what you see straight ahead. Notice my necklace holder and earring holder proudly displayed over there on the right.

Apartment Bedroom

With this move and moving into this new place, I don’t have big plans to completely re-decorate or work on a ton of projects. My goal is to use things I already have as much as I can. So you’ll notice a lot of the same decor pieces as before.

Instead of hanging my felt flower initial on the wall like my previous room, I decided to display it on my dresser.

Made sure that my antique door came with me of course and am proudly displaying it in my room as well.

My nightstand basically looks the same as it did in the old place. Even has my felt flower lamp shade.

My bed is up against my other window. The curtains for both windows were actually already in the place when I moved in. They matched my stuff perfectly so I decided to keep them up.

Apartment Bedroom: Bed

You can see what my bed looked like in my old place here.

On the other side of my room is my tall dresser.

Added some candles and accessories I already had on top.

Directly across from my bed I hung my pallet antler wall art.

Apartment Bedroom: Pallet Art One thing I did purchase for my room was a rug. Since the apartment is all hardwood, I wanted to get a rug to put under the bed so I could walk around barefoot in the mornings and before I went to bed. It’s a teeny bit too small, would actually prefer one size bigger. But, I loved the pattern, so I’m sticking with it for now. Hoping to maybe find another similar enough to it and the same size and just put the two together.

What do you think? It’s always interesting to see your stuff in different environments. I changed a few things up, but for the most part, my room is the same as it was before.

Hoping to show you another finished space next week.

This weekend I’m hoping to knock out a few projects on my list and do a little antiquing. What’s on your weekend agenda?

Bedroom Tour

I realized a few weeks ago that besides showing you my bed and the one wall in my room with the gallery wall and initial, that I hadn’t shown you guys pictures of the other side of my bedroom.

With the move coming up and me starting to pack things up, I wanted to take pictures of my room before everything needs to come down.

So here are a few pictures of the side of my room you haven’t seen.

As you walk into my room, this dresser is along the right hand side of the wall. I got the window from an antique store several years ago. I just touched up the paint a bit and added some fabric behind it.

The books are old Reader’s Digest books that I got from Goodwill. And the candlesticks used to be black but I spray painted them white.

This past summer I mentioned that I got a new chandelier from Ikea. I never really blogged about it, but you can see a little bit of it in the picture below.

Here’s a side shot with my wood chalkboards that are along the back wall of my room.

I love my little owl. I think he came from Home Goods.

Another fun thing in my room I never blogged about is this cute rug that I have between my bed and dresser. The kind folks at Shaw Floors gave it to me.

Here’s a shot at the other side of my room that you’ve already seen. You can see my antler pallet wall art above my bed. You can also see the chandelier a little better too.

I still have my coffee filter wreath up on my antique door. I put it up with a few little twigs in it to add a little ‘Fall’ touch to my room.

I’ve had fun decorating my room. I started with basically a blank slate and have enjoyed working on all the diy projects for it.

Now it’s onto a new room and a new place to add my own personal decorating touch too. Super excited!

Inspiration:: Home Tour of For the Love of a House

Instead of the usual WordPress Wednesday post today, I thought I would give you a glimpse inside a beautiful home I recently came across.

I can’t remember now where I first came across a few of the images, but I totally fell in love once I started looking around more. Joan and her husband live in New Hampshire and have turned an antique farmhouse into one spectacular home.

Joan blogs over at For the Love of a House where she has documented the transformation.

Let’s take a look inside, shall we?

Her home has so many things that I want in my dream house one day. Like that farmhouse sink and fireplace in the kitchen.

And like this bathtub. I really want a free-standing or clawfoot tub in my master bathroom one day. And a gorgeous chandelier in there wouldn’t hurt either.

I absolutely love the barn half bath! Love the walls, the antlers, the light fixture and the sliding barn door. Love everything about it!

Their barn mud room is stunning too. I love the railing, wood ceiling beams and artwork on the walls. Love, love, love!
