Dream Cabin in Highlands, NC

This past weekend the hubs and I spent the weekend in Highlands, NC. My birthday was a few weekends ago so it was a little belated bday celebration. We’ve been to Highlands a few times now, mainly for their culinary weekend in the fall, but thought it would be fun to experience it at a different time of year.

In the past we’ve stayed at one of the main hotels/inns that brings a lot of tourists to town, but this time we thought we would get a little different experience and decided to rent a little cabin near their main street.

Ya’ll, this cabin was gorgeous! It had so much charm and character and was beautifully decorated and styled. I felt like I was in a Ralph Lauren magazine spread.

It had all of my favorite things: rustic shiplap walls, wood beams, and neutral furnishings. You can tell so much thought and detail went into every little piece of the place.

We loved that it had a fully stocked kitchen where we could cook a few meals instead of eating out the whole time. There’s an adorable local grocery store that was right down the street where we went to get a few things to make a yummy dinner one night.

Even though the cabin is nestled between lots of trees, there were so many windows in the place that there was always amazing natural light.

The living area was super cozy and came complete with a wood burning fireplace. We definitely took advantage of that a few times on some of the cooler nights/days.

Seriously, aren’t these accessories to die for? This part of town isn’t lacking when it comes to antique stores, which we always try to frequent when we’re up that way. I’m betting a lot of the accessories came from some of the local antique stores which I love even more!

Even the wall with the tv was adorable with red plaid flannel pillows and antique chairs.

The place has two bedrooms and two bathrooms so we’re definitely thinking about going back and bringing more people with us {any takers?}. This was one of the bedrooms. This bed has me seriously considering getting an iron rail type bed for one of our upstairs bedrooms one day.

The shiplap continues into the bathrooms as well. These bathrooms were probably some of the coziest bathrooms I’ve ever been in.

Here’s the bedroom we stayed in. We currently have a queen bed so it’s always a luxury for us when we stay in places with a king. I wanted to take all the furniture in here and use in our bedroom in our new house.

Our bathroom was gorgeous too with wood planked ceilings and a pedestal tub. You better believe I took advantage of this beauty and relaxed one night with a bubble bath and a good book.

This little mountain town is quickly becoming one of our favorite getaways. It’s a quick drive from us and has great restaurants, great shopping and beautiful scenery. If you are planning to visit the area, I would highly recommend this little cabin! The owner is wonderful to work with and made sure we were taken care of.

Between this inspiring little cabin, some R&R, and the warmer temperatures, I can feel my creativity and motivation returning!
