Using & Styling Furniture in Different Ways

Progress on the house has slowed down a bit. I think partly due to Thanksgiving and then Christmas coming up. It seems like holidays throw a wrench in the timeline and schedule. While I’m still not exactly sure when our move-in date will be, I’m trying to enjoy our little one bedroom duplex as much as I can in the meantime.

Our place is tiny so there’s not a ton of space to decorate and we have to utilize every square inch for storage and function.

Using Furniture in Different Ways

You may remember back in September when I shared about the new chair and side table I got to add some additional seating to our current living room from Sauder.

Cozy-Living-Room-Nook-

These pieces have been serving us well over the last several months. When guests and family have come over it’s allowed us an extra place for people to sit {besides everyone squeezing onto the teeny tiny couch we have}. It’s also a little corner that I can have fun with styling and re-styling.

When I decorated our little place for Christmas a few weeks ago, I had fun switching out some of the accessories on the table and adding a few seasonal elements to the chair to make this nook more festive.

Styling Furniture for the Holidays

I got this super soft throw for Christmas last year from my parents and I got this adorable reindeer feed pillow from an antique shop from our recent trip to North Carolina to celebrate our anniversary. Love how it makes this part of our living room feel so warm and cozy.

Styling Furniture with Accessories

I got rid of the white pumpkins that I did have on the side table and added a driftwood tree and this adorable handmade nativity set I got last year. Just a few seasonal accessories totally transformed this space and blended these furniture pieces with the rest of the Christmas decor in the living room.

Styling Tabletop with Accessories

I mentioned that space is limited in our place, so using what we have and utilizing it in different ways is one way to maximize storage and functionality. Just for fun, I transformed our side table into a hot chocolate/cider station for guests to enjoy.

Using Furniture as Functional Piece

We don’t have a lot of countertop space in our kitchen so transforming this table into a functional piece and using it as a way to entertain is one way to utilize what we have in a different way.

Using Side Table as Hot Chocolate Station

I used a three tiered galvanized stand to display all the goodies and added some fun seasonal elements like ornaments and glitter pinecones to make it feel festive this time of year.

Sweater Mugs

P.S. I have a sweater mug addiction. Target seems to have these every year and I just think they are so adorable {and they are so cheap}, I can’t help but add to my collection each year.

Just because a table is typically used in one doesn’t mean you can’t think outside the box and utilize it in a different way and a way that works best for your home and your family.

Have you used a furniture piece you bought in a different way months or years down the road?
