Renovation Update:: Countertop Installation

Last week we checked another thing off the list for our house, countertops!

Several months back I shared with you guys that we went with quartz countertops and shared a few reasons why. We are so excited to finally see these beauties installed and couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out.

We went with an LG quartz product called Viatera. For the powder room, kitchen, master bathroom and jack and jill bathroom we went with the Cirrus pattern.

It has a similar look to Carrera Marble, but is much more durable, which we love. You can see a close up of what it looks like here.

White Quartz Close Up

For the laundry room and upstairs guest baths we went with the Absolute Night pattern. We just wanted something black, as close to the look of absolute granite as possible.

The quartz countertops look so good in our kitchen! This is definitely becoming my favorite space in the house.

Kitchen Countertops

They are waiting until floors go in before the cabinet people come back out and finish up all the cabinetry so we still have some unfinished cabinet areas. Now that countertops are in they also need to order and install all the subway tile for the backsplash.

Another favorite space is the master bathroom and I love how the countertops look in here as well. Especially against the pretty wall color {which is actually just tinted primer}.

I was hoping to show you pictures of the completed tile soon, but the tile work is only halfway done. Hopefully they can get back out and get it all done before the year is over, but my guess is it won’t be until the new year. What has been installed so far though looks great!

Next on my list to finalize is mirrors for all the bathrooms. I didn’t think it would be that difficult, but I’m having a tough time making a decision. For the jack and jill bathroom I’m planning to do the spec mirror with black trim but want to purchase hanging mirrors for all the other bathrooms.

I’m great at making decisions when you give me a set number of choices. Give me unlimited options and I get overwhelmed.

One thing I hadn’t shown you guys yet was the board and batten we added in the mudroom. We’ll have built-in lockers on the other side and I felt like the other wall needed some sort of treatment to avoid the one side being too ‘heavy.’ What do you think?

All the interior doors have been painted and hung as well.

Doors Hung

For our master bedroom closet doors we are re-using two of the original doors from the house and painting them a fun color and installing them on track hardware so they will slide back and forth.

The painters have started sanding and stripping off some of the paint to get them prepped and ready for the new color.

As soon we can get heat on in the house the painters will be able to come back and floors will be installed. We’re crossing our fingers things can move quickly after that! This girl wants to move in!

If you are shopping for granite or quartz countertops, you definitely need to check out Granite Countertops Unlimited. We couldn’t be more pleased with their service and product and are so glad we did our research and found them. Their staff has been great to work with and they have been quick to return phone calls, answer questions and are extremely reliable.

*Note: we were not compensated by GCU in any way to write about them nor did we receive a discount or free product. We just genuinely loved working with them and want to share that with you all!

Great choices for the countertops! Everything looks so bright and inviting! Must be so exciting to see so much progress now! I agree about the board and batten accent wall in mudroom, it will help to balance out the wall with the lockers opposite.
    Nice job!!
