31 Days to Building Your Dream Home:: Lighting Resources

For me, one of the more challenging selections I had to make for our house was picking out all the light fixtures. The reason being, there are just sooo many options out there and so many different directions and styles you can go with.

When I first started researching lighting options, I wasn’t even sure where to begin looking. Trying to find the best deals or searching for a certain brand or style can be challenging.

After doing some digging around online and from my own personal experience I thought I would share with you some of the great lighting resources I came across.

Designer Brands

Some designer brands aren’t sold to the general public through their company’s website. Typically these companies work exclusively with interior designers who then sell them to their clients. However, there are a few sites that curate name-brand light fixtures that are available to the general public {typically at the full suggested retail price, not wholesale pricing}. Here are just a few.

Layla Grayce: Feature brands such as Arteriors, Aiden Gray, Currey & Company, Eloquence, Jamie Young, Jonathan Adler, and Regina-Andrew Designs.

Lumens: Feature brands such as Arteriors, Currey & Company, Global Views, Hubbardton Forge, Jonathan Adler, Robbert Abbey, Visual Comfort and Uttermost.

Wayfair: Feature brands such as Johnathan Adler, Justice Design Group, Hubbardton Forge, Robbert Abbey, and Uttermost.

Curated Sites

There are several lighting sites out there that offer a curated selection of lighting from various brands. You’ll typically find the same brands on each of these sites and prices between sites can vary. Be sure to visit multiple sites to price shop to ensure you get the best deal {also keep in mind some sites offer free shipping}.

Some of the typical brands you’ll see on these sites are Quoizel, Murray Feiss, World Imports, Livex Lighting, Kichler and ELK Lighting.

Lighting Universe

Wayfair: In addition to designer brands, Wayfair also features the brands listed above.

Individual Brands

Then there are various retailers that offer their own line of light fixtures that aren’t available on other curated sites. Helpful hint: typically with these sites if you sign up for their email newsletter list, they will send you a coupon to use towards your next purchase.

Pottery Barn

Ballard Designs

Birch Lane

Barn Light Electric

Shades of Light

Restoration Hardware

West Elm

There are obviously plenty more lighting resources available both online and in-store in your area {including Home Depot and Lowe’s}.

My advice, narrow down the type of fixture and style you are looking for and utilize the search engine within each site to find options that might work {narrowing your search down to the size you need will also help eliminate options}.
