If all goes as planned, we’ll have hardwoods throughout the entire house. We’re planning to get all new hardwood downstairs and looking to keep the existing hardwood upstairs, feathering in new pieces where needed. We’re keeping the upstairs hardwood for 2 reasons. One, it will save us some money on flooring and two, we like the idea of keeping the original floors from the house for character.

But, with hardwoods in every room of the house, we’ll definitely be investing in lots of rugs. Rugs are a great accessory to a space. They not only anchor a space, but they also provide some needed texture and warmth. Rugs also add some needed softness underfoot.

Our bedroom is one of the first rooms I want to get a rug for. And it’s one of the rooms I want to eventually re-decorate. We’re planning to use some existing furniture pieces we have to furnish our master bedroom for now. But, once I’ve lived in the house for a bit, I definitely want to get new furnishings for this space that fit the style of the house and our taste.  Even though I won’t be re-decorating for a while, I thought it would be fun to put together a little mood board for the vision I have for the space incorporating a nice rug.

Can you tell I love neutrals? Love the idea of using solid light bedding for most of the bed and adding colorful accent pillows for pops of color.

I’ve always loved the look of upholstered beds and would love to pair it with some French or rustic furniture pieces. And isn’t the chandelier so pretty?

I love this neutral rug from Would look great with the rest of the neutral furnishings and would look pretty against dark hardwoods. Rugs can be tough to pick out, but I love that Kalaty’s rugs are handmade and mostly hand-knotted. They also have a variety of styles and patterns to choose from.

Now to start daydreaming about how I want to decorate my office. 🙂
