Renovation Update & A Giveaway

Can you believe it’s almost May?? I feel like the last few months have flown by. I think Spring-like temperatures are finally here to stay in Greenville. The temps have been all over the place the last few weeks. One day it’s 70, the next it’s 50 with a low of 34. Talk about a tease.

We are renting only a few blocks away from the house we bought, so on days it’s nice, we love to walk up there after work to check out the progress. Late last week, on one of those nice days, we walked up to the house before heading downtown to eat dinner. Lots of progress has been made on the addition so I snapped a few pictures to share with you guys.

Here’s what the back of the house looks like as of now. The back of the original house looks pitiful doesn’t it?

Renovation Update

You can see where the basement will be in the below picture. We still have the old cellar underneath the original house to use as storage, but we added some additional space for storage and also a 12×12 room that Aaron can use as a cycling room.

Renovation Update

To give you an idea of the different rooms that will be above it, the family room is what will be above the back portion of the basement. You can see where the fireplace will be where it juts out on the far right side.

The kitchen will be on the left near the front of the house and the dining room is directly behind it.

Renovation Update

The master bedroom is at the back and will be next to our screened in porch. We’ll have an outdoor fireplace in the screened in porch and you can see the beginnings of that below.

Renovation Update

Underneath the screened in porch will be a ‘hole.’ Basically some unused space. Instead of letting that go to waste, we’re planning to somewhat frame this space out, using the porch as a roof, and we’ll store outdoor equipment and tools like lawnmowers, gardening supplies, etc.

Renovation Update

We’re fortunate that we aren’t having to live in the midst of this renovation and are happy in our little duplex for now. So while I can’t wait until this little home is done and for us to officially live in it, I’m just enjoying the process for now. It will be done before we know it and we’ll look back and realize how quick the whole thing was in the grand scheme of things.

Speaking of our little duplex. I have a new fun piece of art for one of the walls in our living room. My sponsor this month, Poppy Mae, has some adorable art prints for only $5 {can’t beat that} that you can download and frame. I loved this little ‘you & me’ print from the shop and thought it would fit perfectly on the wall next to our front door.
