We Bought a House

Yes, you read that right. We our officially homeowners! For me, it’s my first time owning a house {my husband’s second}, but we are both beyond thrilled.

The house is right up the street from where we are currently renting.

New House

Yes, I know it’s looking a little rough but the place will be gutted and renovated before it’s all said and done.

Here are the exterior plans to give you an idea of how the outside will change and look in the end.

New House Plans

The house search has been a long process over the last year. We were close to buying something, but in the end, it didn’t work out. We really wanted to find an old house that we could work on and personalize for us and our family. And that’s exactly what we are getting to do so it really is a dream come true. The house is in a historic district so there are some restrictions on what you can do to the exterior. The plans will go before the board later this week so hopefully soon after we’ll be able to get started. And if all goes well, we’ll move-in late August or early September.

I’m so excited to be able to design an entire house, top to bottom. I’ll get to pick out paint colors, lighting, fixtures, etc. I have an entire blank canvas which is both exciting and scary. I’m just hoping that the whole process doesn’t get too overwhelming.

I will of course document the process from the beginning to the end, sharing lots of before pictures and progress pictures. My plan is to live in the house for a bit before buying most of the furniture and finalizing some of the lighting/design elements. Since I’ve never had my own home, I don’t fully know what I like and what will work.

This is our forever home. From the start of our search, we knew that whatever house we bought, it would be the house we would live in for many many years. Neither of us wants to move again {unless we absolutely had to}. So with that said, I have plenty of time to get this house exactly like I want it.

We are so excited about this next chapter of our lives and I hope you will continue to follow along in our journey.

How exciting! I love Greenville and I’m sure this house will be spectacular when you are done. My brother in law lives in Greenville with his family and we were just there the day after Christmas.

  2. I love the exterior elevations. My favorite part.. the car port.

Thanks Kimberly! I kind of love the car port too. :) Can’t wait to hear how your renovation goes. Will you be blogging about it at all?

      • I am not sure if I am going to blog about it. Funny thing is I have a background in interior design and architecture but never talk about design on my blog. Now that you mention it I just might.
