As predicted, it snowed slightly that night, but not enough to create dangerous road conditions.

We made plans to eat lunch at Panera near his hotel downtown before having to take him to the airport to catch his flight.

I remember looking at him several times thinking, ‘could this be my future husband?’ I still wasn’t 100% sure how I felt, but I knew there was a force greater than either of us that brought us together and I wanted to figure out why.

March rolled around and the communication continued. At this point we were communicating mostly via the phone/text with the occasional email in between. He sent me flowers on my birthday and I sent him a gift card to one of his favorite ice cream shops in Greenville for his {that he failed to tell me about until a few weeks later}.

As April was approaching, I mentioned to him about possibly coming to Greenville to hang out again. After looking at our calendars, we decided that the first weekend in May would work best.

There was a lot riding on this weekend for me. In my mind, I felt like I needed to figure out once and for all how I felt and for whatever reason, I decided I needed to figure it out after hanging out once more.

On May 4th I flew into Greenville. He picked me up at the airport and we drove to Spartanburg to watch some of his fellow cycling teammates race downtown. The race is a big one in the area and only now do I realize that him skipping out on racing in it himself was one of the many sacrifices he made for me that first year.

As weird as it sounds, I vividly remember looking over at his arms while he was driving and thinking how strong they looked and how protected I would feel in them. And in that moment, I had no doubts about my attractions to this man. I wanted to be in those strong arms.

After eating dinner and watching part of the race, we headed back to Greenville where he dropped me off at my hotel.

My friends back home had been texting me all evening asking how things were going. Knowing that up until then I had been a little unsure, they asked how I felt after hanging out again. And my brief response left no room for questioning- ‘I think he’s a keeper.’
