Sherwin Williams Chip-It Tool

I keep hearing people talk about Sherwin Williams’ new Chip It tool. Someone at Haven mentioned it and I kept meaning to check it out. Then Wednesday, Layla over at the Lettered Cottage blogged about it so I figured it was high time I figured out what all the fuss was about.

If you haven’t heard about it, Chip-It is a tool that takes a picture and instantly creates a color palette based on the photo you submitted. So, let’s say you found a photo online and wanted to know what wall color was used in the photo, it won’t pull the exact color but it will pull an equivalent Sherwin Williams color you could use to get the same look.

I thought I would give it a try with some of the photos from my room I’ve blogged about to see what colors the Chip-It tool would pull out.

I love the gray colors it pulled out from the picture of my bedding.

Because of the jute and distressed door, a few browns were pulled from this photo.

And obviously because of my frames, lots of green shades were pulled from this image.

My wall color is actually a Sherwin Williams paint color called Eider White. For some reason it didn’t pull that color from any of the photos. {That also could be based on the lighting/exposure from the picture}.

You can also drag the Chip It tool to your toolbar {just like the Pin It button for Pinterest} and click on it when you see an image with a color palette you like. Hopefully this is a handy little tool for any of you out there maybe looking to paint a room 🙂

Hope you have a Happy Friday! I have lots to catch up on this weekend. I have several projects to finish {including finally hanging curtains in my room}, my first commissioned project to work on, and lots of laundry to do {which of course is always fun…not ;)}. What about you? What are your plans this weekend?

P.S. The people at Sherwin Williams have no idea who I am. I just wanted to give it a try and wanted to pass it along in case it was helpful to any of you.
