The one thing we don’t have in our place is a mantle. It’s the one thing I’m hoping to have in our next place for sure!
But, instead of a mantle, we do have two shelves that we installed over our tv. I decided to add a few fall touches to these as a faux ‘mantle.’
I found a few pine cones in my friend’s backyard to add to the candle holder I had up on one of the shelves and added another to the opposite end. I also added a little ‘faux’ pumpkin.
On the other shelf, I made a burlap ‘fall’ wreath and added a few more ‘faux’ pumpkins. I bought the orange burlap on one of my recent ‘antiquing’ trips and used some of the leftover brown fabric from when I made my fabric rosettes to make the letters. The letters were cut and attached with my Silhouette machine’s fabric interfacing.
When the interfacing first came out, I bought it but didn’t have a project yet to use it with. I thought this was the perfect time to try it out! The whole banner is hung with jute string I already have.
I had totally planned on posting a full tutorial for the burlap banner, but threw it together one night after work and the lighting was terrible. I’m hoping to make more of these type of banners using the fabric interfacing and will be sure to post a tutorial then!
I’m linking up my ‘faux’ mantle today over at the Lettered Cottage. Be sure to check out all the other mantles that have been linked up!
