Wednesday Inspiration- Packaging

I’ve done inspiration posts sporadically over the last few weeks. My plan is to do an inspiration post every Wednesday from here on out for however long I can find things that inspire me. :)

Today my inspiration is packaging.
When I opened my Etsy shop, the first thing I did was research cute packaging ideas. I not only wanted my shop items to be quality, but I also wanted the way I packaged them to reflect my brand… and of course be cute!
One of my favorite things about buying stuff off Etsy, is receiving an adorably wrapped package in the mail.

So, with that, I leave you with some super cute diy packaging ideas…

I’m hoping to incorporate some of these ideas into my gift wrapping for Christmas…which I’m hoping doesn’t come for a loooong time. This summer girl doesn’t want it to be winter!

Birthday Gift- Rosette Headbands

This weekend I went out of town for my little cousin’s 3rd birthday party.
I don’t have any siblings, so I like to think of my little 2nd cousins as my faux nephews and niece :)

The youngest of my little cousins turned 3 last week and we celebrated with family on Saturday. I made this rosette necklace not too long ago. Her mom showed it to her and she thought it was really pretty. She even left me a voicemail telling me how pretty she thought it was :)

So for her birthday, I knew I had to make some little something with fabric rosettes.
I decided to make some rosette headbands.
I got some pastel colored fabric and stretch headbands from a local craft store.

I also used some of the brown fabric I already had from making my rosette ring.
I made 2 fabric rosettes for each headband, one slightly larger than the other.

I then cut out circular pieces of beige felt that were slightly smaller than each rosette.

I hot glued the felt circle on one side of the headband and the rosette on the other.

And there you have it. Three adorable headbands.

And here’s the little birthday girl herself modeling one of the headbands :)

Antique Skeleton Key Art

I recently saw these framed antique skeleton keys on Design Sponge.

I love skeleton keys and thought this was a great way to use them for an art piece. So, I decided I would create my own framed skeleton key piece! My bathroom is currently a deep purple color with gold and brown accent colors. I had hung this candle holder on the right side of my mirror when I first moved in because I had it in my previous bathroom. But, since my wall color is already a darker shade, the dark brown candle holder and candle just weren’t standing out on that wall like I would have liked it to.

I thought this would be the perfect place to add some skeleton key artwork!

I scored these bronze antique skeleton keys from Pick Your Plum not too long ago and was excited to use them for this project.

I had also found and bought this white distressed frame from an antique store in town several months ago for only $6! I wasn’t sure at the time where I was going to put it, but the time has come. I decided to use it to frame the keys.

A white frame is just what I needed to lighten up this particular wall.

The next thing I did was to look for fabric to use as the backing behind the keys. I found this beige paisley printed fabric from JoAnn’s. Since one of my accent colors is gold, I thought this would go well in the space. I also wanted the keys to stand out, so I wanted to have a more neutral/light background to achieve this.

The frame came with a piece of cardboard backing. I used this to trace my fabric and cut it to the frame’s size. Then I hot glued the edges around the cardboard.

Once I had the fabric backing in the frame, I arranged the keys how I wanted them.

I added a little hot glue on the back of each key and stuck it to the fabric. And there you have it.

Framed skeleton key artwork!

I love how it looks on the wall too. Definitely brightens it up.

(P.S. sorry for the overexposed picture. There was a lack of natural light in the bathroom..)So, what do you think? Would love to know if you’ve done anything with skeleton keys.
